Sound Body | Healthy Meals
A strong connection exists between a healthy mind and a healthy body in the early years of development. Well-being in both of these areas significantly influences how young children learn, behave, and grow. Understanding this relationship can empower caregivers and educators to create environments that support development.
Nutrition in Early Education
Our school recognizes the fundamental link between nutrients and absorbing the curriculum during early education. Food serves as vital fuel for young bodies and minds. We offer the fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins needed for ongoing energy, concentration, and academic growth.
We understand the importance of accommodating allergies and/or specific dietary requirements.
Nutritious snacks and meals are provided. An example of what the nutrition that you can expect for child includes:
AM snack: Homemade cinnamon raisin bread, Milk
Lunch: Summer chef’s salad (ingredients: chicken or garbanzo beans, hardboiled egg or red pepper, cheddar cheese, ranch or balsamic) Whole wheat roll, Banana, Milk
PM snack: Trail mix (ingredients: pretzels, Goldfish, Cherrios, Life), Milk
5PM: Apple slices, Sunbutter
Physical Activity in Early Education
Effects of combined physical education and nutritional program on schoolchildren’s healthy habits indicates that physical education contributes also to a healthy mind and body. Every minute that is spent in physical activity is one less minute of sedentary time in lesson-filled days for schoolchildren. It correlates with mental well-being by improved mood, and the ability to manage stress. Activities like running, jumping, playing games in the fresh air of the outdoors, and engaging in play during breaks make a big difference for students to enhance focus and attention. Our daily schedule includes dedicated time for activity and movement-based learning.
Healthy School Environment
A school plays a crucial role in supporting children. Fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere encourages students to make healthy choices, and feel supported in their physical and mental health.
We provide ample opportunities for movement throughout the day, offer nutritious food choices, and remain responsive to the individual health needs of each child.
Support for Caregivers
“The involvement of schools and parents is essential to establish, control, maintain and reinforce patterns of healthful dietary practices, and to encourage daily PA.”
We encourage caregivers to partner with us in these efforts to support the holistic development of each child.
